About This Workspace
Use this Qodex workspace space to share and collaborate on Stargate APIs, collections, environments, monitors, and mocks. This workspace provides NoSQL database developers with wide-column, document, and key-value database models using Qodex, Apache Cassandra, and Stargate.
Running bundled examples and scenarios
This blog has step by step instructions on running the collections in this workspace and an embedded demo video. Note that Stargate requires a running Cassandra cluster to function. Stargate itself is deployable to bare metal, VMs, Docker\Compose, GKE, EKS, K8ssandra.io plus DataStax Enterprise. Skip the download and configuration -- and try it as a service on DataStax Astra DB, where both Cassandra and Stargate are automatically setup for you!

What is Stargate?
Stargate v2 modernizes Apache Cassandra for new workloads with Web APIs, cloud-native architecture and mirrors Cassandra 4.1 focus on ecosystem extensibility.
Stargate enhances Cassandra-based databases by:
- Enabling developers to interact with Astra DB Vector databases, including similarity vector searches, via a document-based JSON API.
- Enabling schema-first CQL over familiar APIs like gRPC, REST, and GraphQL, automatically.
- Providing a high-performance gRPC API that is as fast as native DB drivers, and is easier to learn.
- Separating coordinator and storage nodes into independently deployable and scalable services.
- Separating API Services into independently deployable and scalable services, for both API and driver connections.
- Providing table-based and JWT-based token authentication for driver and API connections.
